TV Turnoff at Tuscan School
Last year, almost 400 Tuscan students successfully completed the challenge. They attempted to free themselves from the “screen.” They challenged themselves to use their time, talents, and imagination to explore other things, like reading, learning a musical instrument, keeping a journal, playing outside, writing, drawing, or improving their keyboarding.
Indeed, studies have shown that students who watch ten hours or less of television a week perform better in school! If you think you are up to this awesome challenge, please ask Ms. Popp for a permission slip.
There are three levels of participation: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Parents may choose the level that is right for their child. As a special bonus, students will be able to check out one more library book all year long. Kindergartners will be able to check out 2 books; students in grades one to five will be able to check out 3 books. When our third through fifth graders participate in the Battle of the Books program, they will have the privilege of borrowing four items per library visit (if one book is a Battle book) during the duration of the Battle.
