SMS SUPERSTAR NEWS - March 2020
Principal's Message - Mr. Mason
I hope you enjoyed our February newsletter. We wanted to share what the students, teachers, administrators and PTA have been up to during the month of March. Because of Covid-19 we have found ourselves practicing Social Distancing and moving to Distance Learning and as a result we were not able to gather pictures for the entire month of March. I have received emails and phone calls about how students miss their teachers so I have asked the teachers of SMS to share their own pictures with the students of SMS. Enjoy!
Team W and Mrs. Simon's Class Celebrate Reading, Together!
Team W kindergarten celebrated the end of their reading unit "Bigger Books, Bigger Reading Muscles" on Thursday, March 5th. They invited Mrs. Simon's third grade class down to read. It was amazing to see everyone sharing favorite books and showing off their new skills. We can't wait to get together again!

Hello South Mountain Elementary School Family! Home of the Superstars!
I am ECSTATIC to be apart of the Annex Elementary School as a new Kindergarten Special Education teacher with the Team Prisco Class. I am enjoying my time getting to know each scholar and their families. I look forward to the continued practice and commitment of building a relationship with students that will allow me to accomplish my goal. That is, striving to learn each student and how I may best meet their unique educational needs. I treat teaching not as a job, profession or career but as a mission. I strive to inspire my students daily and set high expectations and standards for all students and believe that they will reach them. The excitement that the students display each day, questions that they ask, and readiness they exhibit upon arriving to the classroom and even during our distance learning experience demonstrates to me their enthusiasm to learn and be great. SO! It motivates and positions me each day to support them in climbing the ladder of SUCCESS, in each step that they take will be a design for purpose.
Students you are AWESOME! I miss you and I can't wait for us to be together again in the classroom. Keep SMILING!
