Monday, May 5th, Maplewood Community Music's flute choir, The Silvertones, played during lunch. It is the first of a series of music offerings that Principal Tina Lehn and the PTA hope will blossom into an ongoing program. The music program strives to expose children to various genres of music for them to explore and enjoy. Today, they played the Pink Panther Theme and Harry Potter, among other popular tunes. The Silvertones was formed at the end of 2013 and made its debut at the Annual Holiday Concert on December 14, 2013. The founding members include Eva Curtis, Ilena Kasdan, Lee Koss, and Lynn Reyman. Part of Maplewood Community music's mission is to support and inspire the youth of the Maplewood area and get them excited about music and its history. If you are a musical parent with an interest in sharing your favorite music genre as part of the lunch time music program, please contact Nerissa Aschoff at firstname.lastname@example.org. You are welcome to play an instrument, sing, bring your entire band/orchestra/choir/jam group to join you, or even share a form of dance or creative movement set to music. The South Mountain School community will be appreciative and delighted!
