Seth Boyden Multi-Agers Celebrate 1920s Rent Party

On February 28, 2017, multi-agers ( 1st/2nd  graders) got together, and had a party that was like a real time machine. It took everyone back to the 1920’s, when rent parties were popular in Harlem, to pay the rent. Each of the classes performed their own song by the famous Harlem Renaissance person they were studying, like Duke Ellington’s Take The A Train, and “Fats” Waller’s Ain’t Misbehavin’. Also, one class read two poems by Langston Hughes.  After all the classes performed, they had Southern food made by the parents, like collard greens, cornbread, and chicken. Oh, what a party that was!
