STEM Day in 3rd Grade at Jefferson Elementary School
On May 6, 2016, several 3rd grade classes from Jefferson Elementary participated in Discovery Education’s STEM Day. They took a tour of Discovery Communication’s world headquarters via live streaming broadcast and listened to Jason Roby (Digital Media Creator) and Audrey Tucker (Media Analyzer) describe their behind-the-scenes jobs in the nonfiction media company.
Student teams then took on 2 STEM day challenges: to create a digital logo and come up with a pitch for a new educational show. The activities integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, Art Design and Mathematics in solving real-world projects.
Students learned real-life problem solving and cooperative skills!
