South Mountain raises over $26,000 for the American Heart Association by participating in Jump Rope for Heart.
This fundraiser is in its 8th year and has raised over $25,000 for the South Mountain physical education program.
The event is sponsored by the North Jersey School Music Association and is comprised of fourth through sixth grade students from the area.

In a first-time collaboration, the South Orange/Maplewood School District and The Parenting Center have partnered with SOPAC, the MAC Scholars and the Community Coalition on Race to bring a new and important film to the community.
SOMSD, The Parenting Center and the Elementary PTAs are partnering to expand our school and classroom libraries so that they reflect the rich diversity and backgrounds in our schools and our community. This project was inspired by an initiative of Ms. Stewart’s 1st grade class at Marshall last year.
