Dear Montrose Parents and Guardians,
We want to alert you of a power outage (due to downed power lines) that has occurred in the Montrose School area section. The power outage has affected a majority of the street including our school; first responders and energy company are currently on-site working to resolve the issue.
Please note all students/staff are safe. However, in order to keep all parties safe and comfortable, it became necessary for the District to implement an evacuation plan. All students/staff have been transported to South Orange Middle School (SOMS) Auditorium (70 North Ridgewood Road, South Orange, NJ).
Students have been fed lunch and will continue their day at SOMS. Please note key details below:
- Dismissal Time: Pick-up time will remain the same at 2:30 pm – be sure to pick-up your child from SOMS (front entrance)
- After-Care Students: Students who attend the YMCA after-school care program will be picked up by the YMCA transportation at 2:15 pm and transported to the South Mountain Annex. Please pick-up your child at: 112 Glenview Road, South Orange, NJ (back entrance) | Phone: (973) 378-2801
- Transportation: Students receiving transportation will be brought home on their normal bus route
- All parents/guardians will be required to sign their child out upon pick up
