On Friday, September 28th, the students at Marshall School attended an assembly on Mindfulness. The facilitator was Brian Chevalier and the assembly was sponsored by the Marshall School PTA. The purpose of the assembly was to help students learn to stay focused, manage stress and anxiety, and maintain a sense of calm. Mr. Chevalier used a variety of strategies to help students to listen, breathe, and relax. He spoke with students about being “present in the moment” when working in class or even playing at recess instead of worrying about other things. Mr. Chevalier used movement and songs as he played his guitar which appealed to our young learners. Many of the songs focused on celebrating themselves as individuals and being respectful of oneself as well as to others. It was a highly interactive and engaging experience that kept the attention of all of our K-2 students! It was a great way to end Start with Hello Week and move into our planned activities for the Week of Respect.
