Ms. Hutchinson is currently the Principal at Delia Bolden Elementary School.
She came to the district with an extensive and diverse background in the field of education. Over the last 16 years, Ms. Hutchinson has been working in numerous roles in elementary education, special education and school administration. She began her career as a second grade teacher in the New York City Public Schools and later worked as special education teacher in the Newark Public Schools. Ms. Hutchinson spent 8 years working as a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant before becoming an Assistant Principal for Special Education at McKinley School in Newark, NJ.
Ms. Hutchinson earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Fordham University in the areas of Sociology and Elementary Education. She later earned her Master’s Degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in Learning Disabilities. Ms. Hutchinson was a member of the 2008 cohort of the Summer Principal’s Academy at Teacher’s College, Columbia University. Through that program, Ms. Hutchinson obtained her Master's of Education in Organizational Leadership. Ms. Hutchinson was also selected to participate as an emerging leader in the New Leaders for New Schools Program in Newark, NJ.
Ms. Hutchinson is actively involved with community and professional organizations, including the National Association of Elementary School Educators, the National Alliance of Black School Educators, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. She is a passionate supporter of children in Foster Care. Therefore, she is a Licensed Resource Parent with the State of New Jersey and a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in Foster Care with CASA for Children of Essex.
She enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
