Tuscan Elementary School
Welcome To The 2017 – 2018 School Year!
Tuscan is a wonderful school for learning!
At Tuscan, we are deeply dedicated to nurturing and developing the intellectual curiosity, academic performance and social and emotional capacities of our students. We know that learning is a process that evolves uniquely for each of our 627 students in grades K-5. Our goal is to continue to meet the needs of the whole child as we strive to inspire, encourage, support and challenge our students to reach increasingly higher levels of preparation for lifelong success.
Tuscan’s children are fascinating and diverse learners who bring a broad range of prior knowledge, skills and talents into every learning experience. We care deeply about our children and seek to gain in-depth understandings of our students as learners. We take pride in creating cognitively engaging and physically active learning environments in which our students are safe and supported. We are deeply committed to our students overall growth and development as knowledgeable, skillful, compassionate, respectful and responsible members of an inclusive and diverse community.
As a learning community, our ongoing dedication to professional growth enhances our professional practices, expands our repertoire of instructional and assessment strategies and serves to improve educational outcomes for each of our students. Leading each classroom community of learners on a wonderful journey of exploration and discovery are highly conscientious, dedicated and caring teachers who bring head and heart to their work. To meet the diverse and unique needs of our students Tuscan teachers utilize knowledge of child development, knowledge of content, dynamic teaching styles, high expectations, skillfully delivered strategy based whole-group instruction and flexible small group differentiated instruction. Tuscan School offers students numerous opportunities for self-expression and meaningful engagement in learning within and beyond our classroom walls. Our Specialists teachers, in Art, Music, Physical Education and Library Media, educate Tuscan’s children in ways that continue to spark and encourage creativity, critical thinking and decision making. During weekly Specials students further develop fine motor skills, language processing skills and proficiencies in movement, visualizing, critical thinking, problem solving and collaborating with peers.
Our ROAR Book in a Bag Program, longstanding traditions, annual celebrations and school-wide events serve to cultivate and sustain our well-established positive school culture and climate. Our Fall Field Day, School Spirit Days, Thanksgiving Assembly and Food Drive, Snowflake Spectacular Winter Sing-A-Long and Pajama Drive, 100th Day of School Food Drive, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Peacemaker Assembly, Project ACES, Spring Concert, Art Show and Clap Out are joyful Tuscan experiences.
Parent involvement and volunteerism play a vitally important role at Tuscan School. Dedicated parent volunteers offer immeasurable support in our library and classrooms throughout the school day. Parent volunteers also serve as valuable watchful eyes, listening ears and helping hands on the blacktop and in the café during Lunch/Recess. The financial generosity of Tuscan parents and successful fundraising efforts of the Tuscan PTA provides educational supplements to support teaching and learning and a broad array of cultural arts programs and social events for our students to enjoy.
The joyful enthusiasm of students, unwavering diligence of teachers and staff, and steadfast support of parents come together to make Tuscan School a warm, welcoming and wonderful school for learning.
