Columbia HS Lacrosse
This award is given in honor of United States Naval Academy graduates Robert and Kevin Bianchi. Bob and Kevin were Maplewood residents and graduates of Columbia HS classes of 1979 and 1982, respectively. Bob and Kevin were young men who gave their all, in the classroom, on the athletic field, and for their country. This award is provided by the Maplewood Lacrosse Club in memory of Lt. Robert Bianchi and Cmdr. Kevin Bianchi who gave their last measure of devotion for their country.
This award is presented to a varsity player who best exemplifies team spirit, enthusiasm and dedication to the sport of lacrosse.
This award is given in the memory Marc D’Angelo. Marc was a 1982 graduate of Columbia and played midfield as a member of the CHS lacrosse program. Marc was a young man who loved the game of lacrosse. He was a player who never gave-up and proved his mettle each and every time he practiced and played. This award is provided by his family in his memory. Marc passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
This award is given to a player who has demonstrated courage, grit, determination and an unwavering desire to win.
The Lawrence award is given in the memory of Michael J. Lawrence. Michael was a 1968 graduate of Columbia High School and a member of the Maplewood Lacrosse Club, where he played midfield. Mike’s graduation picture professes him as “a mean man with a stick.” Upon his graduation from CHS Michael joined the United States Marine Corps. PFC Michael J. Lawrence was killed in action in Viet Nam while attempting to rescue a fellow Marine.
This award is given to a player who exemplifies the spirit and tradition of Columbia Lacrosse.
This award is given in the memory of Ralph Saenger. Ralph was a member of the Board of Directors, and Past-President of the Maplewood Lacrosse Club in 1971-1972. Ralph’s commitment to Maplewood Lacrosse was evidenced by his attendance at games and his loyalty to the player’s in the program. Ralph’s love of the game and his dedication to Maplewood Lacrosse provide the impetus for this award.
This award is given in Ralph Saenger’s memory by the Maplewood Lacrosse Club for his years of service to the club. This award is given to the most improved player of the Junior Varsity who demonstrates heart, hustle, and who gives 100% of himself.
