Five members of the Columbia High School Band program recently earned recognition at the North Jersey region and New Jersey All-State Band auditions. Joshua Lee, a sophomore clarinetist, Brian da Silva, a senior bassoonist, Noah Schloff, a senior French horn player, and Daniel Maloof, a Senior French horn player, were all selected as members of the All-North Jersey Region Symphonic Band. Seth Peiris, a sophomore bassoon player, was selected as a member of the All-North Jersey Region Wind Ensemble. These same students also auditioned for the New Jersey All-State Bands, with Seth Peiris selected as a member of the All-State Wind Ensemble. Moreover, Seth earned the highest score of all students auditioning on bassoon, earning him first place above the other students auditioning on bassoon. “These students have done outstanding job preparing for and participating in these auditions. At both levels you are auditioning with some of the finest high school band musicians in the state, and the fact that our students performed so well is a testament to their talent, musicianship, and dedication to their instruments.” The North Jersey Region Band concert was held on Sunday, January 26 at Parsippany Hills High School, and the New Jersey All-State Band concerts will be held in February in both Atlantic City and at NJPAC in Newark.
