Beginning in March 2015, all South Orange - Maplewood students will engage in the PARCC assessment. There is a second, end of year assessment in May as well. Since this is new for us all, please take the time to sit with your child and take a practice test, allow them to explore some of the new features, and help ease any uncertainty that might exist.PARCC Practice Tests - Begin taking practice tests at the third grade level to become familiar with the tools, features, and how to answer questions on the PARCC exam. Please note: the Spring test is the Performance Based Assessment (PBA). The test in May is the End of Year Test (EOY).PARCC Sample Items - Try out test questions on the technology platform that students will use when taking the computer-based PARCC tests. Engage with the different types of items (drag-and-drop, multiple select, etc.) and computer based tools (calculator, highlighter, etc.) that will be available.PARCC Tutorials - Learn how to familiarize students with how to navigate the computer-based environment (advancing, going back, tool bar, embedded supports and accommodations). The Online Student Tutorial is a helpful tool in exposing students to the type of questions they will encounter on the exam and how to best utilize the features. Features include multiple choice, drag and drop, using inline choice, text highlighting, text extraction, tabbed passages, and using the constructed-response box.
