Tuscan Students Participate in Odyssey of the Mind Tournament

Odyssey of the Mind tournament Tuscan students participated in their first Odyssey of the Mind tournament, competing against other teams in the state. Their task, "The Not So Haunted House," required them to create an 8 minute skit, complete with set, backdrops, props, costumes, and script that presented a "scary" feel, but in the end was not scary at all. The team worked hard to prepare for the tournament, meeting weekly from September through March.

Their hard work and effort paid off.  The audience and judges laughed, cheered, and clapped for this team of students in grades 1-5. Their combined score of this task, along with a "spontaneous" problem they were assigned on site, put them 7th out of 11 teams! For their first competition, the team and parents were excited about the results.

The amount of effort, enthusiasm, and excitement from competing was hugely rewarding for these students, and they have the drive already to do even better next year, as well as some great ideas from watching other teams.   THANKS again to our Odyssey of the Mind coaches, Ms. Lamkin and Ms. Wolsky, for your tireless hours!
