SOMSD Middle School Fine Arts Staff Partners with Montclair State University for Professional Development
On November 8th, 2016 Middle School Fine Arts Teachers traveled to Montclair State University for professional development.
The goals of the day were: 1) Observation of MSU Music and Visual Art Classes best practices, reflecting on how they will impact your own instructional practices and future curriculum developments 2) Network with MSU Arts Staff to discuss content area curriculum, practices, students and opportunities
Fine Arts Supervisor, James A Manno, spearheaded the initiative.
MSU’s Chairperson of Visual Art, Livia Alexander and Associate Director of John Cali School of Music, Anthony Mazzocchi, coordinated a dynamic schedule of professional development activities for the SOMSD staff.
Teacher’s observed and participated in iPhone Animation, Graphic Design, Painting, Photography, Pottery, African Drumming, Jazz Improvisation, Score Student, Conducting Methods, and Choral Methods learning experiences.
